Face Off Remake 2024: Is The Poster Real or Fake? Will Jake Gyllenhaal & Evan Peters Appear In It?

Fans are wondering if a Face Off remake is in the works for 2024. Are John Travolta and Nicolas Cage being replaced by Jake Gyllenhaal and Evan Peters? Here’s all you need to know about speculations regarding the potential reboot.

Is the poster for the Face Off remake in 2024 real or fake?

The viral poster for a Face/Off remake in 2024 is fan-made and fake.

A poster featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Evan Peters in place of John Travolta and Nicolas Cage is making the rounds on social media. It teases that the remake will arrive in 2024. But unfortunately for fans who wish for it to be real, the Face/Off remake hasn’t been shot and it’s not coming out in 2024. Furthermore, the poster is not official.

Back in 2019, Deadline reported that Paramount had put another Face/Off movie in development. Orn Uziel was hired to write with Neal Moritz producing it, and David Permut was attached as an executive producer. In 2021, Deadline also stated that Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard was lined up to direct it, and his take will be a sequel to the original rather than a reboot.

But not a lot has been heard about the sequel or any reboot since then, and Adam Wingard has also been busy with 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Are Jake Gyllenhaal and Evan Peters starring in a Face Off reboot?

No, Jake Gyllenhaal and Evan Peters are not confirmed to star in the Face Off remake.

Their names aren’t officially attached to the project yet, so any two actors could be cast as the two leads when the sequel happens. However, the casting process might not begin until there is a concrete script for the film.

The MonsterVerse director did share an update on his Face Off sequel idea with Empire in 2022. Wingard said:

“I think we really got it. It has been probably the most challenging script we’ve ever worked on, for a lot of reasons. There’s so much pressure in wanting to make sure that it lives up to the legacy of that project. But every draft you have these things that just click in, and you’re like, ‘A-ha! That’s really what ‘Face Off’ is!’”

So if the script is ready by now and Wingard is still attached, then we could see him jump on to the project as soon as he’s done with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. But whether his sequel arrives in 2025 or 2026 remains to be seen.
