Was Jack the Ripper Ever Found?

Even after several attempts by cops, authorities, and investigators, the dreaded murderer, Jack the Ripper, was never found. This madman terrorized the areas in and around the Whitechapel district in London, England. He was also nicknamed The Whitechapel Murderer and Leather Apron.

Whitechapel was an impoverished area and the killer’s victims were usually prostitutes who resided in the East End of London. His method of killing was violent and his weapon of choice was a razor-sharp knife. During the late 19th century, he took the lives of five women, who were later referred to as the “canonical five”.

Was Jack the Ripper’s case ever solved?

Jack the Ripper killed five women from 31 August 1888 to 9 November 1888. The case remains unsolved to this day. However, officials did shortlist a couple of suspects. The names of the suspects according to cops were, Montague John Druitt, Jacob Isenschmid, Seweryn Kłosowski, Aaron Kosminski, Michael Ostrog, John Pizer, James Thomas Sadler, and Francis Tumblety, among others.

An individual who claimed to be responsible for the crimes distributed a letter. However, it is believed that it was a hoax and plot by the press to draw eyeballs to the case. This letter is popularly known as the “Dear Boss Letter”.

While the aforementioned letter was a hoax, George Lusk of the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee received a letter with half a preserved human kidney. This letter was known as the “From Hell letter”, and it was believed that the kidney was extracted from one of the killer’s victims.

Who was Jack the Ripper?

Jack the Ripper remained an unidentified serial killer who brutally murdered five women in Whitechapel, London. Officials believed that the murderer was a medical expert due to the nature of his crimes.

The names of his victims were Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly. In addition to these five proven victims, it is believed that he might have killed more people.
